Dr Chikramane has worked in the field of psychiatry since 2009 and has been working as a telehealth psychiatrist with PSYCH2U since 2022. She has worked in Tasmania between 2009-12 as well as various hospitals across Sydney, NSW since 2012, with experience in both in-patient and community mental health settings, including Consultation Liaison Psychiatry roles providing psychiatric care to patients under the care of several medical specialities. She has previously worked as a Staff Specialist at the Sydney Local Health District and as Consultant Psychiatrist across several services, including the Western Sector Acute Care Service, Buduwa Step-up/Step-down Unit, Suicide Prevention and Outreach Team (SPOT) and the Camperdown Holistic Early Intervention Team (HEIT). Dr Chikramane uses the conversational model of therapy while interviewing patients to provide a feeling of safety and develop a therapeutic relationship based on trust and respect, working collaboratively with patients, their families and carers, using research-based treatment approaches and a focus on patient-centred care tailored to each person’s recovery goals.
Her areas of interest include:
- Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) – her primary area of interest
- Co-existing anxiety or mood symptoms where they occur alongside ADHD
Dr Chikramane sees patients aged 16 years to 65 for:
- ADHD assessment and management
- Co-existing anxiety or mood symptoms where they occur alongside ADHD
Dr Chikramane does not see:
- Anorexia, bulimia, food restriction or purging history
- Forensic or court-related matters
- Workers compensation assessments
- DSP or NDIS assessments
- Disability claims
- Gun licence assessments
- Armed forces or heavy vehicle driving assessments
- Drug addiction
- Psychosis
- Schizophrenia
- Bipolar type 1
- Significant cardiovascular complications
- Fitness for surgery assessments, including gender reassignment surgery
- Patients outside the 16 to 65 age range
